And So it Begins Again: Pursuit of Happiness

Its one week into the new year and I think I finally have my new years resolutions down. I know what you're thinking: 'girl! its late for resolutions now!' but I've put a lot of thought into mine.

I don't usually do new years resolutions and when I do its lame things like: 'Stop procrastinating!'; ' Chew My food more', ' Eat more carrots and stuff!'. Well this year I wanna resolve to do something that will hopefully make me a better person.

So this year I want to be more patient with the people around me and be a kind person. Cause lets be be honest, how many of us would be described as kind by someone who knows us? We often strive to be the smartest, the fastest or the best at something but never the kind.  So i think that's a good resolution.

And I really really need to learn to be patient.Last year my patience was tested many times and I was just the most impatient person ever. Yet I learned that if you wait patiently you will be rewarded in ways that you could have never imagined.

After all, we all know the first two things love is: patient and kind.

I Play By My Own Rules, Nobody Elses. Not Even My Own!

So have you missed me? I've missed me. Well here I am, back from my break and one thing has become exceedingly clear to me in my time away: I'm STILL a Rebel!

I know you're probably thinking 'still'?. Yes, 'still'! People just expected me to put my rebellious ways behind me when I turned 21, but NO! I cant help it. I'm still that girl who will eat something past the expiry date [ REBEL!] and keeps those little packets from the shoe box that says "Throw away. Do not eat." [REBEL!].

I'm just a rebel. I'm still that girl who sleeps with her contacts on even when I'm really not supposed to [ yeah, don't try that at home kids] [REBEL] and drives with one hand. Yeah, that's right: rebel! I take two when the sing clearly says 'One per person' and I still dont use the zebra crossing when crossing the road.

What I'm really trying to say is that being rebellious has no age limit and that its fun to be a rebel in the most unsuspecting ways and also that chickens cant fly

So now I'm gonna hop into my car because I've got a long day of shooting ahead of me. But dont worry, I'll be back later cause its MEATLESS MONDAY! oH YEAH.

futcHAHA child out! ( still works)

It's A Countdown. Like Beyonce's...But Better!

Thats right, Beyonce : better. So ever since I was fourteen my birthday has been bittersweet for me. My birthday is always near/ during exams so when I countdown to my birthday I'm basically counting down to exams. And now I'm turning 21.

I'm actually excited to turn 21. Twenty has been a tough year. You know; its that awkward year between being a teenager and a full adult. Now that I'm almost at this important milestone in ones life ( not quite sure why though) I find myself reflecting on my two decades here. If I could go back in time and tell the younger me something I would tell little me not to worry so much. And to probably eat more vegetables ( or something like that). I would also tell myself to enjoy being a kid more cause growing up isn't as fun as we thought it would be.

I have lived and seen places that most people only dream of in my seemingly long ( but not actually) life. I've eaten chips with yourhurt, dirt and ants ( they're sour). I've danced in the rain and played in the London snow. I've seen what the world looks like through my fuzzy/blurry vision and I've seen it in high definition with my contact lenses ( amaze's me every time). I've made friends for life and lost friends that I  never thought I would in my life.  I've loved, I've stumbled; I've failed and  I've succeeded. I've cried, and smiled; never broken my bones but I've gotten stitches. I've been short and tall. I've been bald and had long hair. I've had everything and nothing.

But most of all I've laughed. And sometimes all you can really do is laugh. Like when you write a test and everyone comes out laughing cause you all know you just failed. Haha. And through it all I've been blessed.

Graduating from being a kid!
So heres to counting down to exams and my birthday. 9 DAYS...it better be awesome. Or else.
Stay fresh!

Flashback Friday on a Thursday:If I Was Your Girlfriend....

Okay, so I don't not not like Justin Biebers music any more. I don't have 'bieber fever'  or anything like that but hey, I can appreciate and give props to the guy now that he is of age. I mean you, know I think he's been gyming or something cause when I watched his new music video for 'Boyfriend' I was like "Okay, not bad". Now I can see why all these little girls are going cray over him.

I like the song; its the first one he has done that hasn't made me want to jump out of a moving car when I hear it on the radio. Okay, maybe I'm being a little dramatic but I just didn't get it, but now I kinda do.

Yeah, I like things.

Justin( yes, we are on first name basis) is apparently coming to South Africa soon. Don't know if its true but I'm sure that even those people that like to hate on him will be there. Cause I know there are a lot of closet Bieber fans out there.

As for me, I wont be there. JB and I are cool and everything but I'm just not there yet. Havn't caught the Biber fever.

Here are some outtakes from the photo shoot:

That was fun.

Flashback Fridays: And All The Colours Of The Rainbow...

Today we are revisiting the post that informs us of little Blue Ivy Carters birth and her weird name.  My cousin and I were talking bout names the other day and she revaled that she doesnt like her name and I thought that was cray cause I think she has a lovely name. So this got me thinking about all those celebrity children who have the most....um, how do I say this nicely....UNIQUE names, like ever!

I mean lets be real, no matter who their parents are, just like the word "Fetch" , names like Blue, Apple[ Coldplays Chris Martin], Rocket Man [Pharell's baby] and PILOT INSPEKTOR will never work! Seriously though, Pilot Inspector? Come on. That kid doesn't even stand a chance. He cant even shorten that into a nick name [Pi? Lot? Spek? No. Just no.].

And what up with those people who give themselves nick names by choosing like the middle-left part of their names? I think my nick manes make sense : Nolly, Nollz, N.SIBS( that's just my name and surname combined like a boss). Its like me calling myself 'Wan' from NolWANdle. No. But each to him/herself I guess.

So for all those of you who think your name sucks, think again. Spare a thought for all those celeb kids with names like KYD and just be happy for your 'normal' name, okay?  But maybe a unique name is just how they roll in Hollywood and some people might consider my name strange. Just BeeTeeDubz, I love my name. Its awesome. Lets say it together: NOL-WAN-DLE. Once more for for consistency: Nolwandle.

There. Didn't that just make your day? If it didnt then you're just hating.

Weird/ 'Unique' Celebrity Children's names
  1. Schuyler and Aquinnah.
  2. Audio Science
  3. Banjo
  4. Bluebelle and Blue Angel ( people like blue, huh?)
  5. Mowgli
  6. Buster, Camera and Cannon
  7. Chastity (?!) and Story ( I'm not even joking)
  8. Caspar, Dandelion and Denim
  9. Diva Muffin ( thats just cruel) and Ever Gabo
  10. Hopper, Free, Jazz, Jermajesty and Journey.
Celebrity Baby Names that I think are cool
  1. Maddox, Zahara, and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt
  2. Brooklyn and Cruz Beckham
  3. Harlow Madden
  4. Ocean Whitaker - I had to drop this one in, that's the English translation of my name.
  5. Rocco Ritchie
  6. Ryder Robinson and Suri Cruise
  7.  Zion and Zaire Wade
  8. Zola Murphy and Malia Obama
  9. Kingston Rossdale
  10. Elias and Noah Becker

You Raised Me Up So I Can Stand On Mountains:Happy Mothers day!

Its that time of year again. That day where we outwardly celebrate how much our moms mean to us and facebook gets flooded with statues dedicated to mothers only. I've gotta admit that moms are crazy cool the way they have such an influence on our lives even when we don't realise it. Like when you get a beating and cry out "mama!" even when she's the one 'spanking' you or when you find yourself cleaning every inch of your room and realise that you're becoming just like your mother. Or when your mom tries to use the lingo that the youth are into today like "cool" or even "like/awesome" in a sentence and it just comes out wrong. lol. And moms buy you McDonald's when you're not feeling well and they cook you dinner even when they're tired. The ones who taught us not to eat that and not to put those things from the floor in our mouths.

My mom

But seriously though. Moms do so much for us and we have to remember to be thankful of them everyday not just on a day when we have to. So this on is for my mama: its a montage of all those songs that have ever been written about mothers ( the ones I know of at least);

I wanna tell you all about a friend of mine. I'm gonna talk about my mama if you don't mind

Hey mama! I wanna scream so loud for you, cause I'm so proud of you and I appreciate all that you've allowed for me!
There is no one like you mum! You washed me, fed me and tickled my tummy ( when I was a baby). You always know just what I need.

There is no way I can pay you back but you are appreciated! You're an unbreakable, unmistakable, highly capable lady that's making loot!
You raised me so I can stand on mountains. I am strong when I am on your shoulders.
You know I love you so and I'll never let you go, wrote this post just so you know no matter where I go my love is true. Happy mothers day!

Lists reallly seem to be my thing this week! Today We're remembering that post with all these crazy things that you may or may not have known about this blog.  Like the fact that I just came up with the name futcHAHA child cause I was like "Rappers have cool rapper names so I should have a cool blogger name!". Besides would you really have wanted to read something called "Nolly's Blog"? Yeah, I didnt think so. And I'm pretty sure I'm someones child. Another fun fact is that most of my blog titles are some one liners from songs; like yeaterdays post was form that M.I.A song thats been stuck in my head for a while ( side note: have you seen that video? lol, its weird/cool).

Bet you didnt know that I dont know what I'm doing on this blog half the time. Yes I know I seem like an absolute professional but I'm just an ameture. I'm learning as I go along. Post ideas come to me from whats happeniong in my life at the moment or from whats happened to me. Cause I like things and things like me too! Thats really all that this blog is about. Me liking things and telling you about how I liked things. Thats why I blog; its fun. And you keep coming back so I have to entertain you.

Take A Journey Into My Mind: I'm A Rebel!

So everyone's been coming up to me all like "Nolly, Nolly!! Why haven't you posted in over a week!? Your blog is the only source of joy in my life". People, please. I would never desert this blog, so don't worry! I just needed a lil break so that I could come back more awesome for YOU. Just know that I'll be doing this blog till the roof comes off, till the lights go out and till my fingers give up; I just cant shut my mouth. So its double posts today for my prolonged absence.

During my short sabbatical I discovered( or maybe realised) something about myself: I'm a rebel! I've never really been one to follow the rules exactly but I never realised just how much I like to colour outside the lines! I'm telling you guys, I live dangerously. I mean, who else do you know that takes their seat belt off in the aeroplane before the seat belt sign is turned off? That's right; no one else but me. I even drink hot chocolate on my moms white sheets ( oh the rush!) and cross the road with out using the zebra crossing! Oh yeah, I did that.

I walk around with my shoelaces blatantly untied ; take the baking tray out of the oven with no oven mitts(#thatshot) and eat cereal straight outta the box! The list goes on. So basically the moral of the story is that there really isn't one. And you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. I'm a rebel, like a boss.

On a completely unrelated side note; have you ever been caught talking to yourself in public? It happens to me all the time! I even laugh and fight with myself, and when someone catches me they look at me like I'm weird. SMH.Please.Its not my fault I'm hillarious. So vote in the poll on your right just to let me know im not the only one.

@futcHAHA child out! ( yep, I'm still saying that. I feel like it works)

Thats Just My Face: Happy Birthday Sena!

So apparently I have a face. You're probably thinking: "What?! I have a face too!". Well yes, you do but that's not what I mean. People say I have this face where I look like a mean girl . They say I look serious and unapproachable when they see me walking on campus. But I really don't get it. That's just my face! I Can't help my seemingly uninviting face. What do you think? Look, if you see me me anywhere with my "if looks could kill" eyes just know that I'm probably having a good day and everything is all sunshine and rainbow, Kay? [ I'm not being sarcastic at all].

Do people also tell you you have a mean girl face? Its okay, at least people know not to mess with us. HAHA.

So it's my girl Sena's 21st birthday and this post is fitting because she apparently also has the 'mean girl' face. Thanks for coming into the world on this day and bringing human rights AND a public holiday with you. Thanks for all the smiles and laughs you've given me for the past 3 years. Thanks for all the random songs we've written( chillin on the Jammie), the videos we've made and many, many adventures we've had together. Love you and happy birthday!

I MADE THIS FOR YOU!

The Life Of A Clumsy Girl

So on Thursday night just as I had finished posting on my blog  i realised  in dismay that it was 20:37 pm and that my favourite show had started 7 minutes ago! I immediately shut down my laptop; sprung off the bed and took off running.  As I did that my foot got caught on the powercord of said laptop causing me to trip face first across my bedroom floor. There was a loud crah  as I went down and my laptop slammed onto the ground. I was a little shocked at first but when I realised I was okay( and that my laptop was unharmed) I smiled. Besides the fact that my knee stung a bit I was just fine. Or so I thought.

As I stood up the pain in my knee intensified. When I looked down I was HORRIFIED!! My knee was scrapped and bleeding! Oh yea, it was that bad. I had fought with the carpet and got burned ( literally. carpet burn sucks!). When I saw my wound its like the pain became more pronounced- why does that always happen? you could go the whole day without realising you were hurt but then when you see it the pain becomes real?- and I limped out of my room to find help.

But when I actually come to think about it this happenes to me alot. I'm always falling or tripping or breaking something. I cant count how many times I've tripped up the stairs ( yea, i know) or (almost) broken cutlery. I remember once when I was in matric I went to sit down in Biology class an I completly missed the chair. Everyone laughed, even my teacher [ thanks so much Mr. Lawrence]. Such is my life though. I'm that girl who accidentaly cuts herself with a butter knife - those are no joke. They're considered gateway knives- when buttering toast. haha.

My damaged knee
Oh and in case your wondering if I ever found help; I didn't. My mom did scream "Hey!!" when she heard a crash but did not come to investigate. Although she did ask me this morning where I hurt myself when she saw me gathering some plasters. And you thought being an only child ment you got all the attention; well you were wrong.
