Been back in the fairest Cape for almost a month now. Yep, its that time of year again: time to learn stuff.Heading into week 3 of school and I think I'm getting back into the swing of things.
And you know what I've come to realise? As much as we complain about how hectic it is to be a student we've got it really good. Sure, it gets tough from time to time but at least we don't have to pay income tax yet.
I think now I'm finally starting to understand why people always say that university was one of the best times of their life. Waking up when you want to, making mistakes, changing degrees, wearing whatever you want, eating a packet of Simba chips for dinner because you don't have food in your fridge; meeting new people almost every weekend, and pulling all nighters. And our excuse for it all is that we're young.
So lets live it up and make the most of this time while we're still young. For reals though, I now get why there is a store called Forever 21. Its a pretty fun age.
futcHAHA_child out.
Oh, happy meatless Monday BTW. Even though I'm pretty sure I'm having chicken for dinner tonight...awkward.

Snitches Get Stitches!!!
A few things have happened this past month that have led me to the conclusion that my family is full of snitches! Now I'm more of a 'strong but silent' type of person and snitching is not in my nature but I've noticed that it is in the nature of those close to me.
The one that surprised me most was my mother. A couple of weeks ago she was on the phone with my aunt, telling her about all the fun things that we did with her children when they came to stay with us over Christmas. She even told my aunt that we took my 16 year old cousin us when we went out on new years eve! And I told mom we were gonna go hard that night. So, mom didn't know that I could hear her telling my aunt all the details and when I confronted her she was all like "Nah, I didn't say nothin!" ( lol, obviously she didnt use those exact words)! And I was like "I heard everything!". And then I told her that SNITCHES GET STITCHES!
While we're on the subject of my 16 year old cousin ( sup J!) I found out that he also snitched to my aunt just like my mom did. he told his mom that we 'bullied' him into buying us stuff. SNITCH! I just wanna deny all the accusations. Although I did once (jokingly) tell him that if he wanted a ride home he had to buy me a head massager...
I guess the apple doesnt fall far from the tree cause my 16 year old cousins little sitster is also a snitch. Yes, she is only 5 but snitching knows no age! She snitched to my mom for everything ( even when I just looked at her).
And the biggest snitch of all in the family has actually been snitching on me almost my whole life. She knows who she is. She even snitched on me yesterday when I "busted up her lip" [ and you probably thought i was joking when I said snitches get stitches!]. SNITCH!
So the moral of the story is: SNITCHES GET STITCHES!

And So it Begins Again: Pursuit of Happiness
Its one week into the new year and I think I finally have my new years resolutions down. I know what you're thinking: 'girl! its late for resolutions now!' but I've put a lot of thought into mine.
I don't usually do new years resolutions and when I do its lame things like: 'Stop procrastinating!'; ' Chew My food more', ' Eat more carrots and stuff!'. Well this year I wanna resolve to do something that will hopefully make me a better person.
So this year I want to be more patient with the people around me and be a kind person. Cause lets be be honest, how many of us would be described as kind by someone who knows us? We often strive to be the smartest, the fastest or the best at something but never the kind. So i think that's a good resolution.
And I really really need to learn to be patient.Last year my patience was tested many times and I was just the most impatient person ever. Yet I learned that if you wait patiently you will be rewarded in ways that you could have never imagined.
After all, we all know the first two things love is: patient and kind.

It's A Countdown. Like Beyonce's...But Better!
Thats right, Beyonce : better. So ever since I was fourteen my birthday has been bittersweet for me. My birthday is always near/ during exams so when I countdown to my birthday I'm basically counting down to exams. And now I'm turning 21.
I'm actually excited to turn 21. Twenty has been a tough year. You know; its that awkward year between being a teenager and a full adult. Now that I'm almost at this important milestone in ones life ( not quite sure why though) I find myself reflecting on my two decades here. If I could go back in time and tell the younger me something I would tell little me not to worry so much. And to probably eat more vegetables ( or something like that). I would also tell myself to enjoy being a kid more cause growing up isn't as fun as we thought it would be.
I have lived and seen places that most people only dream of in my seemingly long ( but not actually) life. I've eaten chips with yourhurt, dirt and ants ( they're sour). I've danced in the rain and played in the London snow. I've seen what the world looks like through my fuzzy/blurry vision and I've seen it in high definition with my contact lenses ( amaze's me every time). I've made friends for life and lost friends that I never thought I would in my life. I've loved, I've stumbled; I've failed and I've succeeded. I've cried, and smiled; never broken my bones but I've gotten stitches. I've been short and tall. I've been bald and had long hair. I've had everything and nothing.
But most of all I've laughed. And sometimes all you can really do is laugh. Like when you write a test and everyone comes out laughing cause you all know you just failed. Haha. And through it all I've been blessed.
So heres to counting down to exams and my birthday. 9 DAYS...it better be awesome. Or else.
Stay fresh!

You Raised Me Up So I Can Stand On Mountains:Happy Mothers day!
Its that time of year again. That day where we outwardly celebrate how much our moms mean to us and facebook gets flooded with statues dedicated to mothers only. I've gotta admit that moms are crazy cool the way they have such an influence on our lives even when we don't realise it. Like when you get a beating and cry out "mama!" even when she's the one 'spanking' you or when you find yourself cleaning every inch of your room and realise that you're becoming just like your mother. Or when your mom tries to use the lingo that the youth are into today like "cool" or even "like/awesome" in a sentence and it just comes out wrong. lol. And moms buy you McDonald's when you're not feeling well and they cook you dinner even when they're tired. The ones who taught us not to eat that and not to put those things from the floor in our mouths.
My mom |
But seriously though. Moms do so much for us and we have to remember to be thankful of them everyday not just on a day when we have to. So this on is for my mama: its a montage of all those songs that have ever been written about mothers ( the ones I know of at least);
I wanna tell you all about a friend of mine. I'm gonna talk about my mama if you don't mind
Hey mama! I wanna scream so loud for you, cause I'm so proud of you and I appreciate all that you've allowed for me!
There is no one like you mum! You washed me, fed me and tickled my tummy ( when I was a baby). You always know just what I need.
There is no way I can pay you back but you are appreciated! You're an unbreakable, unmistakable, highly capable lady that's making loot!
You raised me so I can stand on mountains. I am strong when I am on your shoulders.
You know I love you so and I'll never let you go, wrote this post just so you know no matter where I go my love is true. Happy mothers day!

Living In The Sky
So this is what it would be like to live in the sky. Beautiful I know. I took that photo about a week ago when I was somewhere up in the clouds and it hit me how we often dont appreciate the simple things in life. Life is often crazy and stressful but hey, take the time out to enjoy the sunsets and the clouds. Cause the world can be a sucky place sometimes. So lets not become too cynical and hopeless.
Remember that e.e. cummings poem that most of us did in matric? Well thats really appropriate for this post:
" i thank You God for most this amazing
day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes"
Yeah that was a good on and those were that days. Here are more snaps from my photoshoot with the clouds
